Greetings from CT Wine Authority Welcome
to our weekly newsletter detailing information and updates on all
things wine and spirits. Look for our communications early each week
for upcoming wine tastings, events, and exciting new products. We
encourage you to visit our website at www.ctwineauthority.com for wine
details, rating information, to find your favorite wine, or to order
directly online.
The two wines featured below will be available
to taste at either of our locations this coming Saturday. The Sonoma
Cutrer has been an old standby for us and offers consistent quality
throughout the vintages we have tasted. Bodegas Finca Coronado is a
new wine to us and it exhibited such a fabulous flavor profile that we
figured it was a necessary addition to our stores.

Finca Coronado 2004 750ML
sku: 13285
Product of the famed Spanish winemaker Miguel Angel de Gregorio, the
Finca Coronado 2004 is a masterful combination of Old World traditions
and modern techniques. He is known for blending his wines with the hope
of achieving a depth of complexity that is difficult to reach with
single-varietal wines.
Wine
Enthusiast: Fans of Miguel Angel de Gregorio's Finca Allende wines from
Rioja will want to snap up this excellent, lush-styled blend from La
Mancha. This wine almost proves that talent is as important as terroir,
because no other La Mancha wine features this grape blend, these rich
and pure medicinal flavors, and a smooth-handed sense of balance that
calls for drinking now through 2013. -M.S.
Robert Parker: A top-notch offering from this nearly forgotten,
vast viticultural region, this 1,000-case cuvee is a blend of equal
parts Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, and Syrah along with small
quantities of Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Graciano. Its inky/ruby/purple
color is accompanied by smoky, creme de cassis-like aromas presented in
a full-bodied, fleshy, modern, international style. Consume this
reasonably priced Spanish red over the next 5-6 years.

Sonoma Cutrer Sonoma County Chard 2006 750ML
sku: 10324
The
broad Sonoma Coast appellation features diverse soils and growing
conditions perfect for exceptional Chardonnay. Warm days deepen flavors
on the vine, and maritime influences from the nearby Pacific Ocean
bring gentle fog to kiss the vines each day, extending the growing
season to allow for full physiological maturity and rich flavor
profiles. The backbone of this blend is their own estate Cutrer
vineyard, where vines struggle in alluvial soils and their Grand Cru
approach to viticulture practices assures that only the finest fruit is
the foundation for this offering.
Distinct
aromas of ginger and lemon zest are joined by toasty coconut, melon and
caramel alongside a mineral, flinty cedar chest oakiness overlaid by
notes of honeysuckle. Well-balanced with a solid acid backbone, the
wine is rich and medium-heavy with a broad, yet firm, mid-palate. The
long, lingering finish displays a touch of spice and lively acidity.
Flavors of lemon, apple, pear, pineapple and cantaloupe, Sonoma's full
cornucopia of fruit, join a nutty, spicy, lightly oaky profile.
Fermented in oak and undergoing complete malolactic fermentation, the
wine shows a mature influence by older vines and promises to evolve
over time, bringing joy to both winemaker and those lucky enough to
savor a glass.more
