Sexto Terra Alta 2007 750ML

Sexto
is fresh, fruit-laden, spicy and quite distinctive. This delicious wine
captures the unmistakable flavor and character of Northeastern Spain.
The winegrowing region, Terra Alta, is the Southern-most DO in Catalonia and has the lowest rainfall
and the highest summer temperatures. Terra Alta literally means "high lands," and has
superb microclimates with great soil and fabulous drainage. Vines grow on steep
terraces identical to Priorat, its Northwestern neighbor.
Winemaker's
Notes: "Sexto" means sixth in Spanish. The wine is a blend of six
different grapes, Grenache, Carignan, Tempranillo, Syrah, Cabernet
Sauvignon, and the ancient grape Lledoner Pelut Noir. The winemaker
said it was the addition of the Lledoner Pelut Noir (a cousin of
Grenace) that made all the difference in the wine. She said she wanted
to make a wine that is at the same time original and traditional with a
modern twist. Sexto captures the traditional taste of Spain with a
decidedly modern twist. Enjoy!

D. Pedro de Soutomaior Albarino 2008 750ML

Tasting
Notes: Albarino produces medium to light-bodied white wine that is
clean and intense with ripened fruit aromas (pinapple, passion fruit,
melon, and dessert pear), citrus (grapefruit), floral and light fresh
grass. The wine is fresh and balanced with bright acidity and an
easy-drinking quality that has propelled it to new heights of
popularity. This wine is held in high regard by Americans and Spaniards
alike and is by far our most popular Albarino.
Albarino is an
indigenous grape grown in Galicia, the border region separating Spain
and Portugal. It is often referred to as the signature white wine grape
of Spain. It is thought to have originally been Riesling brought to the
Rias Baixas by monks in the early middle ages. The D. Pedro de
Soutomaior is produced be Adegas Galegas, a small, modern winery,
owning 60 hectares of vineyards. Plantings of high trellised Albarino
thrive in the cool, lush Mediterranean climate of Galicia and are grown
as organically as possible. Vinification includes some maceration with
skins to bring out the Albarino character and cool fermentations
preserve the lively fruit and floral notes. D. Pedro de Soutomaior is
the flagship Albarino of the house. more

This
nearly garnet Rose, like many non-vintage sparkling wines, is aged 24
months en tirage. It has a lovely, bright floral bouquet with hints of
strawberry, raspberry, and cherry. On the palate, it is rich and fruity
in a dry, Brut style. The flavor of berries continues on the palate,
revealing more strawberry, raspberry, cherry. This sparkler is lots of
fun and very festive, but production is limited to 5000 cases per year,
