Greetings
from CT Wine Authority
In honor of Mother's Day on
May 9th, this week we are pleased to offer three unique wine selections
to commemorate the day. Our selections consist of a delicate and
refreshing Rosé, a fruit forward, easy drinking Shiraz, and a crisp
sparkling Prosecco. We hope that everyone, especially mothers, will
find these wines to be delightful on their special day.
"I remember my
mother's prayers and they have always
followed me. They have clung to me all my life." -Abraham Lincoln
As
always, please stop this Saturday for a sample of this week's featured
wines. Mothers are especially welcome! Happy Mother's Day!

R
Wines Strong Arms Shiraz 2008 750ML

sku: 11321
R Wines was founded in 2005 by
Dan Philips and Chris
Ringland, who have made it their passion to not only create great wines,
but to package those wines with an artist's touch. Mel Kadel is the
artist behind the Strong Arms labels and he creates 5 or more for each
vintage, all displaying pieces of everyday life. Strong Arms is 100%
Shiraz and all of the fruit for this delicious wine comes from McLaren
Vale, Riverland and Barossa Valley in Southern Australia.
Robert Parker: The deep crimson-colored 2008 Strong Arms Shiraz
spent 12 months in American oak. The nose offers up cedar, plum, and
blackberry leading to a lush, sweetly-fruited, full-flavored Shiraz that
will provide enjoyment over the next 4 years.
Tasting
Notes: Sweet-fruited vibrant nose of fragrant violets, plums, cherry and
musk. The palate has rich blackberry, raspberry, licorice and tar.
Finishes with a creamy, vanillin oak and slightly smoky character. more

Jean Luc Colombo Rose Cape Bleue 2009 750ML
sku: 12571
Hailed as the winemaking wizard of the Rhone,
Jean-Luc Colombo has achieved a high-profile international reputation
for making innovative wines that are original, memorable and bursting
with personality.
Colombo has turned to the vineyards of the blue cape near Marseille for
the inspiration behind his latest winemaking venture. In a return to his
roots, Colombo, a native of the Cote Bleue where he spent his childhood
and adolescence, introduced in 2002 a new range of wines from this
promontory of land overlooking the bay of Marseille. Known for its
shimmering landscape this area of Provence has been captured on canvas
by countless artists, most famously Cezanne. Colombo is determined to
put it on the wine lover's map with his delicate, yet expressive Cape
Bleue Rose.
Grape Varieties
40% Syrah; 40% Mourvedre; 20% Counoise
Tasting Notes: The
color is a soft, delicate pink. The bouquet displays subtle hints of
peach, rose petal and pepper on the nose. The taste is also subtle,
round and full of finesse. Surprisingly complex, with intriguing notes
of raspberries, fresh cherry, black olive and fennel. more
