Wine Advocate 87 points - Chenin Blanc excels in South Africa, especially in the Coastal regions, such as Swartland. Man?s 2013 Chenin Blanc (aged completely in stainless steel) displays a lovely flowery-scented nose of honeysuckle, pear and apple butter as well as a medium-bodied, refreshing, dry, crisp style. (Feb 2014)

Wine maker notes
The Agter-Paarl area is the ideal region for growing Chenin Blanc and our farmers have the largest collection of old vine Chenin Blanc in the country. To do justice to the excellent bush vine (un-trellised) grapes, we only use free-run juice - we don’t press the grape skins - and we leave the Chenin Blanc on its lees for three to four months before bottling for a richer, fuller mouthfeel. We call this our ’sweet and sour’ wine - the acidity and sweetness are perfectly balanced. We’ve been told many times that this is a wine you taste and immediately love - and who are we to disagree?

Food pairing
A versatile food wine with poultry, shellfish and vegetable dishes. Also fabulous as an aperitif for a hot summer afternoon. Serve chilled.

Producer
It all started as a simple plan: to make a wine that we’d love to buy. We wanted quality wine that offered excellent value and great packaging. Not exactly an epiphany, perhaps, but enough to motivate us into action. Of course, first we had to come up with a name. To keep peace in the families, we took our wives’ initials (we each have one wife) - that is how we explained to Marie, Anette and Nicky that we were going to be “busy” most weekends. “It’s for you!” we told them. And mostly it’s true. We are Jose Conde and brothers Tyrrel and Philip Myburgh. We started making wine together in 2001. We’re further supported by a group of dedicated grape growers from the Agter-Paarl region. From our first 300 cases made in a tractor shed, we have grown to producing over 175 000 cases per year and exporting to 25 countries. Our biggest selling wines are our chenin blanc and cabernet sauvignon, but our area is also well known for shiraz and pinotage. And we think our other wines are pretty good, too.
