In 1973, the banker Baron Edmond de Rothschild, a partner in Chateau Lafite Rothschild, purchased two estates, both Cru Bourgeois in the Medoc area, one in Listrac; Chateau Clarke, and the other adjoining the former, in Moulis; Chateau Malmaison.
He gave this beautiful property to his wife, Baronne Nadine de Rothschild.
The 24 hectares of Chateau Malmaison were principally planted with Merlot which gives Malmaison its typical soft harmonious style.
