The creation of our Chateauneuf du Pape draws on cherished family traditions (and a few closely held secrets). After harvest the grapes are carefully sorted, crushed, and fermented between 10 - 15 days. The juice is then aged for 18 months in 50hl old oak barrels and then bottled without filtration. Drink between 3 - 15 years.
The wines are bottled in a distinctive heavy bottle embossed with the Appellation's coat of arms. This guarantees that the wine is that of a proprietaire recoltant, that is to say from a grower that makes his own wine. The label states, Mise en bouteilles au Domaine, Pegau is bottled in the cellars of the Domaine when we feel the time is right. Those who drink our wine know that from vineyard to vat to barrel to bottle it is the exclusive product of the care and passion of Paul and Laurence.
Domaine du Pegau is an estate bottler of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, owned by Paul Feraud and his daughter Laurence. Recognized as one of the top estates in Chateauneuf, its wines are considered among the world’s greatest. Though supply is far outweighed by demand, prices remain reasonable for those able to seek out and purchase these wines.
