Our Pommard has a beautiful ruby colour with cherry-red nuances. The primary nose has delicate smoky and woody notes which move on to fruity notes of lightly spiced raspberry and plum. The mouth is pleasantly supple with noticeable but well-blended tannins. Pleasant minerality on a good structure of plum and a lovely aromatic persistence.
Pommard is one of the most famous appellations of the Cote de Beaune and is known for its red wines. The
brownish-red soil, rich in hard limestone from the foothills produces some of the most tannic and robust wines in
Burgundy. Indeed, they are more powerful than their Beaune neighbours and it is often said that these are ’masculine’ wines.
|Ideal for accompanying finely-prepared tender red meat dishes, feathered game and dishes cooked in wine sauce. This Pommard will perfectly match veal cutlets with shallots, a partridge terrine, venison cooked in red wine or a roast suckling boar cooked in port. Also suitable for a wide range of cheeses, from Epoisses and Livarot to Pont L’Eveque.
