Jammy fruit from beginning to
end----starting witharomas of blueberry pie, nutmeg and pepper. In the mouth, flavors expand to include boysenberry, plum,
blueberry and spice. This full bodied wine has a bold tannin structure and balanced acidity that lead to long finish. This big
wine is anything but “petite.”
HandCraft Artisan Collection wines celebrate the California home and Italian heritage of third generation winery proprietor Cheryl Indelicato. She gives classic grape varieties her own personal touch by adding a playful dash of Italian and heritage varietals as a nod to the vineyard-to-barrel field selections
that found their place daily at the Italian table when she was growing up. The result is distinctive, fruit forward
wines that are easy to enjoy and share with others.
| Wine maker notes |
| Grapes were hand harvested in the cool of the night to retain every ounce of flavor before being taken immediately to the winery where
they were de-stemmed into small lot fermenters. After a brief cold soak, the must was slowly
warmed, which enhanced color and flavor extraction. The wine’s fermentation regime is
designed to highlight Petite Sirah at its best-—big color, bold blueberry fruit flavor and
assertive tannic structure. Once fermentation was complete, the wine was aged in a combination
of French and American oak to soften and integrate the tannins. We added a touch of Zinfandel for a bit of pepper and spice. Just
prior to bottling, the wine was transferred to tank with minimal filtration to ensure the
maximum expression of the wine’s dark fruit flavors and aromas. |
