Ultimate Beverage Challenge 94 points - Candied orange peel opens up the nose succeeded by eucalyptus, peppermint, and deeper notes of toasted walnut. Honeyed on the palate with dried cherries and peppermint sharing the stage leading into a slightly smoky, spicy and long finish. (Apr 2014)
Wine Enthusiast 92 points - Though this new offering meets the technical criteria for rye (a mash bill of at least 51% rye), the sweet, caramelly flavors suggest a high-rye Bourbon-which makes sense considering that Knob Creek is best known for its Bourbon. Expect bold almond, oak, brown butter and pecan pie flavors. The drying baking-spice finish is more characteristic of rye, and has less bite than might be expected of a 100-proof spirit.
A golden amber hue with menthol confectionery notes on the nose. Grass and peppermint notes on the palate with a hint of dried cherry. The finish is long, spicy and bold. (Sep 2013)
