Ultimate Beverage Challenge 93 points - (Great Value,Tried & True Award)- Pretty burnt orange/rust color. Aroma is laden with baking spice piquancy, in particular, nutmeg and clove. Flavor-wise, there’s a bounty of baked tropical fruits (pineapple, banana) that are heavily spiced with thyme, sage, parsley. The herbaceousness continues deep into the aftertaste. (Mar 2015)
The Jameson Masters carefully select a high proportion of single Irish pot still whiskey and a rare small batch grain whiskey, all matured in flame-charred bourbon barrels and toasted sherry casks.
The trademark Jameson notes of toasted wood and spice develop while the rich pot still whiskey matures in the dark, aromatic warehouses of our single distillery. The rare, sweet grain whiskey - not found in any other Jameson Whiskey - is triple distilled in small batch quantities on just one occasion each year.
This bold combination of charred barrels, deepened spices and exotic fruits, results in a dark and full-bodied taste experience that is completely unique and unmistakably Jameson. It took 232 years to get here, but we think you will agree that Jameson Black Barrel was worth the wait.
|Welcome to the home of traditional Irish whiskey. The Kilbeggan Distillery is the oldest licensed distillery in Ireland, retaining its license to distill whiskey on the same site and in the same buildings for over 256 years.
The distillery is situated on the banks of the River Brosna, with plenty of access to the three natural ingredients needed for whiskey distillation – water, grain and turf. In fact, we still use the water from River Brosna to make our whiskey today.
Dating back to 1757 a visit today lets you discover real artisanal Irish whiskey distilling at its finest. See for yourself the traditional method of mashing in oak mash tuns, fermenting in Oregon pine vats, and the new Kilbeggan malt spirit flowing from the 180 year old pot still.
