Exuberant and bright, the Lucia Santa Lucia
Highlands cuvee of Pinot Noir is loaded with red
fruits; cherry, ripe pomegranate, wild raspberry
and slight baking spice and forest floor. The
palate is expansive and rich without being heavy.
Gentle tannins act as framework as the wine
stretches out into a fine finish. The 2011 reds
display a sense of bright fruits leaning more to the
red side and full-bodied textures.
Wine Advocate 90 points - Looking at the reds and a delicious, fruit-loaded effort, the 2011 Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands offers up notions of kirsch, flower garden, underbrush and loamy earth as well as a rounded, supple and downright textured feel in the mouth. Fermented with 20% whole cluster and aged in 50% new French oak, it?s a total crowd-pleaser and will drink nicely for 3-4 years. Drink now-2017. (Aug 2013)
Wine Spectator 92 points - Pure and rich, with vivid and ripe wild berry and blackberry, revealing an enticing touch of minty spiciness. Holds and gains depth on the long, deep finish. Drink now through 2020.óJ.L. (Jun 26 2013)
The Lucia Pinot Noir is a blend from the three vineyards in the Santa Lucia Highlands farmed by the Pisoni Family: Pisoni, Garys' and Soberanes Vineyards. This wine is a wonderful representation of the Santa Lucia Highlands and these estate vineyards. The goal is to create a "world-class" appellation blend; barrels for this wine are hand selected, just as for the single-vineyard wines.
|A special place, Pisoni Vineyards expresses the land and climate of the Santa Lucia Highlands and the spirit of the Pisoni Family. The site is a source of exceptional Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah.
First planted by Gary Pisoni in 1982, Pisoni Vineyards consists of small vineyard blocks arranged on and around the ridges of the mountainous landscape. Ranging in size from one-half to seventeen acres, the vineyard blocks perch at an altitude of 1,300 feet in the granite-laced mountains of the coastal Santa Lucia Range.
