Exuberant and bright, the Lucia Santa Lucia
Highlands cuvee of Pinot Noir is loaded with red
fruits; cherry, ripe pomegranate, wild raspberry
and slight baking spice and forest floor. The
palate is expansive and rich without being heavy.
Gentle tannins act as framework as the wine
stretches out into a fine finish. The 2011 reds
display a sense of bright fruits leaning more to the
red side and full-bodied textures.
Wine Spectator 92 points - Pure and rich, with vivid and ripe wild berry and blackberry, revealing an enticing touch of minty spiciness. Holds and gains depth on the long, deep finish. Drink now through 2020.—J.L. (Jun 26 2013)
The Lucia Pinot Noir is a blend from the three vineyards in the Santa Lucia Highlands farmed by the Pisoni Family: Pisoni, Garys' and Soberanes Vineyards. This wine is a wonderful representation of the Santa Lucia Highlands and these estate vineyards. The goal is to create a "world-class" appellation blend; barrels for this wine are hand selected, just as for the single-vineyard wines.
|The Garys’ Vineyard is a joint venture between two native growers of the Santa Lucia Highlands. Gary Pisoni and Gary Franscioni planted this 50-acre vineyard to Pinot Noir and Syrah in 1997. Its location on a sloping hillside in the center of the 16-mile long appellation gives the vineyard a true representation of the Santa Lucia Highlands
Lucia is one of several wineries that makes a Pinot Noir under the Garys' Vineyard designation.
