Wine maker notes
The majority of the grapes used for this wine were sourced from Monterey and Mendocino County. The Monterey AVA is located in eastern Monterey County, California. It’s part of the larger Central Coast AVA. It runs roughly 100 miles north of Monterey Bay to its southern point, abutting Paso Robles, California. The soils here are sandy and require extensive irrigation which it gets from the Salinas River. Cool air is funneled in from Monterey Bay, making the northeastern end of this region very cool and well suited to growing grapes with higher levels of acidity. Daytime temperatures rarely exceed 75 degrees in most parts of the region. Mendocino County is located directly north of Sonoma County and about 90 miles north of San Francisco, the Mendocino wine region is bounded by California’s Coastal Mountain Range, the Pacific Ocean and the great northern redwood forests. The climatic and geographical diversity of Mendocino County, allows the region to produce a wide range of grape varieties. Mendocino County has extremely warm summer days followed by cool nights, which are ideal conditions for growing premium wine grapes.

Food pairing
This wine is an exceptionally versatile food companion and is equally suited to hearty dishes or lighter fare. Try pairing with braised short ribs with fresh green beans or Cornish game hens stuffed with wild rice and pecans.
