The Barbera grapes grown in the Barolo area, give full
structure, plummy and complex flavor, with spicy and ripe fruit, blackberry aroma and a hint of toasted tobacco. It ages quite well.
Wine Advocate 89 points - The 2011 Barbera dAlba delivers more aromatic intensity in the form of Indian spice, leather and mild tobacco. It does not limit itself to those savory aromas. In fact, it also delivers a healthy dose of fresh fruit, mostly blackberry and plum, to flesh out and enrich the mouthfeel. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2018. (Jun 2013)
Grown alongside nebbiolo in selected vineyards in the villages of Monforte and Castiglion Falletto and from grapes in our own vineyards in the villages of Serralunga and Treiso. Ageing occurs for two years in Yugoslavian oak casks of various sizes and in small French oak barrels. This is a unique wine - full and brave, rich and aristocratic, yet soft and supple.
