A sophisticated, complex nose; darker notes of cola, chocolate, and cherry layered with high-toned potpourri and redcurrant. The intense palate shows surprising depth and power for a cooler vintage; leads to a smooth, long finish accented by fine-grained tannins.
Wine Advocate 89 points - A Trisaetum 2010 Pinot Noir Estates Reserve representing a selection of barrels that ended up being 40% new displays sweetly-ripe if tart-edged cherry with prominent brown spice and resinous flavors as well as noticeable tannin from wood. Piquancy of fruit pit and an undertone of grilled red meats add interest on a finish into which a hint of drying creeps. I would be inclined to plan on drinking this over the next 3-4 years (Aug 2012)
