B Side Cabernet Sauvignon tells the story of the flip-side of Napa Valley. Nestled in rural areas and rolling hills along the eastern edge of the Valley, these vineyards are just a few miles from the glamorous, high-priced wineries featured along Highway 29. The eastern side of Napa Valley includes areas such as Pope Valley, Chiles Valley, Wooden Valley, Stags Leap District and lower Calistoga. Vines in these areas are grown in thin volcanic soils, which yield smaller, more concentrated fruit, producing Bordeaux-style Cabernet Sauvignons with classic berry and cassis flavors.
Wine maker notes
Our 2010 B Side has rich aromas of dark cherry, caramel, toasted marshmallow and white pepper. Sourced from Rutherford and Stags Leap, this wine has an intensity of fruit flavor on the palate, beginning with black currant and dark plum and evolving into dark chocolate and cappuccino. Dried dark fruit and smoky oak nuances come through on the mid-palate, revealing additional layers of depth. The finish is rich with big, mouth-filling tannins and a firm core of high quality French oak.

Food pairing
There are notable earthy undertones from the Rutherford terrior and Paso Robles’ red soils. The Malbec and Petit Verdot help deliver blue fruit avors and add complexity to this rich Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. Try this wine with Humboldt Fog cheese and cranberry hazelnut crackers, braised short rib ragu or dark chocolate bread pudding with red berry sauce.
