Wine Enthusiast 89 points - Distinctive and very rich in character, this is an intensely perfumed wine. Acidity comes through the more generous, opulent texture to give a ripe, full-bodied and ready to drink wine. (Oct 2013)
Herrenweg, a combination of gravel mixed with sand, has excellent drainage and a warm micro-climate allowing maximum ripeness while always maintaining finesse and the balance of soil and fruit. The Gewurztraminer Herrenweg is rich with floral aromas, spice notes, and ripe exotic fruit flavors.
|Looking out the back door of Philippe and Corrine Ehrhart’s cave you have a noble view. This small estate of 20 hectares is located in the village of Wettolsheim, which backs up to the vineyards of Steingrubler, Rosenberg, Hengst, Herrenweg and Brand.
The Ehrhart family committed themselves to organic farming 2 generations ago and the wines are all certified organic. Most of the work is done by family members by hand and the wines show wonderful purity and elegance. Each block is vinified separately and the wines rest on their lees for up to 6 months before bottling.
