This Grand Cru has an attractive ruby red robe with burgundy red reflections. When young, our Clos-de-Vougeot develops a very complete and varied aromatic palette of red and black wild woodland berries. With ageing, it will evolve towards notes of Virginia tobacco and tea. The mouth is robust but not rustic, with a menthol note which can be appreciated vintage after vintage.
A 50-hectare walled vineyard, 80 owners, a terroir discovered 9 centuries ago by Cistercian monks, a renowned brotherhood of wine enthusiasts (Confrerie du Tastevin) Clos de Vougeot showcases everything that Burgundy is all about! But, let us not forget that Clos
de Vougeot is first and foremost a highly unique terroir. Overlying exceptional brown limestone-based soil and scree, our plots face east/south-east. The entire vineyard produces a single Grand Cru yet subtle differences can be found depending on the location of the vines. Though different facets define the specificity of each owner’s plot, the special terroir is common to all. Our plot stretches from the rich, cool soil of the southern quarter to the soft, deep northern half, yielding wines that combine power and finesse.
|Taste this Grand Cru with red meat dishes, roasted game or other hunts. Also recommended with cheese such as
