This is the top wine of the estate that Bobby created in the 2003 vintage for the first time. All the wine here is made from entirely free-run juice. It is a blend of about 40% Syrah and 30% each old-vine Carignan (65+ years old) and Grenache (25-46 year old vines). After alcoholic fermentation the wine is decanted into 20% new cask, with the remainder in 1- and 2-year old barrels for up to 24 months. The result is a marvelously complex and richly textured wine that rivals anything produced in the appellation. The dark berry fruit burst from the glass with power on the mid-palate and spice and sweet oak on the finish.
